The City Of Albemarle, North Carolina, Operating Under A Council-Manager Form Of Government, Seeks An Individual With Demonstrated Interpersonal And Service-oriented Skills To Join Our Team In Advancing Our Mission Of Providing Citizens With A Vibrant Quality Of Life Based On Sound Management, Transparency, And Good Stewardship Of Resources. This Position Is Responsible For The Advanced Professional-level Administrative And Support Functions For The City Council, The City Manager, And The Assistant City Manager. Essential Duties Maintains The City Seal; Affixes The City Seal On Official Documents; Approves And Signs Official Documents. Attends Council Meetings; Takes Minutes; Files Records And Minutes As Required By-laws; Maintains Minute Books And Other Official Documents According To State Archives Requirements. Works Closely With The City Attorney To Ensure Compliance With The North Carolina Open Meetings Law, Public Record Laws, And Other Applicable Statutes With Respect To Meetings Of City Council And Records Maintained By The City Clerk. Works With City Manager On Preparing City Council Agendas, Which Includes Coordination With Department Directors, City Council And The Public, Proofing And Editing Numerous Documents And Publishing To Website. Arranges Meetings, Schedules Appointments, Arranges Travel And Accommodations And Handles Correspondence For Members Of The Council, Manager And Other Administrative Staff. Attends Staff And Council Retreats, Workshops, And Public Sessions; Assists With Coordinating Arrangements For Meetings Including Locating Appropriate Facilities, Room Set-up, Ordering Meals And Refreshments, Etc. Maintains A Roster Of Terms Of Boards And Commission Members. Provides Excellent Customer Service As The Role Receives And Responds To General Requests From Citizens; Provides Public Information To Other Government Agencies Or Businesses As Required; Facilitates Information Flow And Follow-up Between The City Manager's Office, City Council, Department Directors, Community And Business Organizations And Citizens. Conducts, Coordinates, And Develops Reports On Assignments Generated By The City Manager And/or Assistant City Manager Maintaining Updated Status Information On These Assignments Assists In A Variety Of Special Projects, Assignments, And Communications; Handles Confidential And Sensitive Information Appropriately. Locates Ordinances, Policies, Rules, And Regulations For A Variety Of People; Provides Copies; Researches And Interprets Information; Answers Questions Or Refers To The Proper City Official. Maintains Ordinance, Resolution And Other Official Books; Ensures On-going Ordinance Codification Process; Distributes Updates To Book Holders. Maintains Tax, Tag And Title Records For All City Vehicles. Receives And Processes Applications For Peddlers/itinerant Merchants. Manages Special Projects As Needed. Serves As Staff Liaison For Select Appointed Boards And/or Commissions.
