About This Opportunity Brunswick County Is Seeking An Assistant County Attorney To Assist The County Attorney On Issues With Legal Applications For The County. The Assistant County Attorney Will Regularly Attend Meetings Of The County Commissioners, Planning Board, And Board Of Adjustment, Litigate On Behalf Of The County In Trial And Appellate Courts, Advise County Officials, Department Directors, And Other Employees On Issues With Legal Implications, Negotiate Contracts And Agreements, Examine Titles Of Land To Be Acquired By The County, And Interpret Federal, State, And Local Laws, Ordinances, And Policies. Work Also Includes Drafting County Ordinances, Writing Policy And Procedure Manuals, And Drawing Up Resolutions And Proclamations For Board Approval. Reports To The County Attorney. Education And Experience Graduation From An Accredited School Of Law With A Minimum Of Five (5) Years Of Experience In The Practice Of Law (including Work For A Local Government); OR Any Equivalent Combination Of Training And Experience Which Provides The Required Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities. Education And Experience Can Substitute For One Another. Must Be Licensed To Practice Law In North Carolina. Physical Requirements Must Be Physically Able To Operate Standard Office Equipment, Such As Computers, Copiers, Etc. Must Be Able To Exert A Negligible Amount Of Force To Move Objects. Sedentary Work Involves Sitting Most Of The Time, But May Involve Walking Or Standing For Brief Periods Of Time. Reasonable Accommodations May Be Made To Enable Individuals With Disabilities To Perform The Essential Functions Of The Position.
